True Green: The Antron Story

In past decade, Antron® has made significant improvements in the use of natural resources, global warming emissions, other air emissions, land emissions, water use, safety and health, and value recovery. These environmental efforts led to the certification of Antron nylon as an Environmentally Preferable Product. Environmentally Preferable Products are defined by the U.S. EPA as products that have a lesser or reduced effect on human health and the environment when compared to other products that serve the same purpose.

To achieve certification, Antron was evaluated by the following criteria:

* product performance;
* total environmental impact of product manufacturing;
* use of “green energy” in manufacturing;
* protection of safety, health and the environment;
* end-of-life responsibility.

As members of the building industry understand the importance of evaluating sustainability by more than single attributes, they look to Environmentally Preferable Product certification for a comprehensive measure of total environmental impact.

Building upon the Environmentally Preferable Product certification of Antron fiber, a pilot specification for Environmentally Preferable carpet was recently developed. This demonstrates a true commitment in the commercial interiors industry to offer sustainable flooring solutions. Certification assures end-users that their “green” product selections have been measured by the highest level of standards.

Environmentally Preferable Product certification is based on rigorous and trusted scientific evaluation. When you have the facts, being green is easy!
